Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get ready for my new feathered friends?
- Using the eye screw affixed to the top of the house, hang from a convenient limb or eave.
- There is a hole drilled in the back of the house for hanging. Simply drive a large spike into the tree (it won't hurt) at the height you want the house. Leave enough showing to allow the head of the nail to reach the inside of the structure.
- To mount to a post remove the screws from the bottom of the house, and attach the bottom to the post first. Then, placing the house on top of the board, replace the screws.
What type of material is used to build the bird houses?
Either pine or poplar is the construction material, and great care is exercised to ensure that the structure is sturdy.
What types of birds are able to nest in the bird houses?
Bluebirds, chickadees, titmouse, wrens, sparrows, and downy woodpeckers are likely inhabitants of your purchase. The hole is 1.25 inches, generally accepted as the size needed to attract the widest variety of birds.
How do I take care of my bird house?
All houses have a cleanout on the bottom.
- Simply remove the screws and the bottom board will separate from the rest of the house.
- Please clean your houses after each brood has left. Remove and throw away any old nesting material.
- Scrub with a 10% bleach solution to prevent diseases and parasites from spreading. Let dry completely before remounting. Old nesting material left on the ground could invite predators.
